Our History

The Providence Food Pantry was founded in 1994 by Sister Brenden Harvey. At that time, the food pantry was located at St Leonard Catholic Church in West Terre Haute, IN. Sister Joseph Fillenwarth took over the ministry in 2006 and retired from the ministry in 2022. The current director is Sister Maureen Fallon.

During the first year of service (1994-95), 1,205 families and 3,155 individuals were served. For the 2024-25 fiscal year, the pantry served a record 7,000 families and 27,018 individuals. In this fiscal year, the pantry distributed for our families to prepare some 620,000 meals.

In 31 - years of service to the West Terre Haute community, the food pantry has distributed more than 15 million pounds of food allowing our families to prepare some 13 million meals.

We are able to perform this Mission because of the generous service of hundreds of volunteers and financial supporters.
